ACT ETHICALLY
You are representing not only yourself, your team but your university. Be honest about your feelings but realize you represent more than yourself.

ACCEPT VICTORY -- OR DEFEAT -- WITH CLASS
Shake hands with opponents after a contest. Keep the celebration under control when victorious, avoid pouting after a defeat.

SUPPORT YOUR TEAMMATES AND TEAM
Demonstrate class by supporting your teammates in both public and private situations. Don't criticize a teammate in the media or try to guess what they are were thinking during a critical time. Help your teammate who appears to be losing control.

DON'T TRASH THE OPPOSITION
Or anybody else, for that matter. Talk about the strengths of your team and program, avoid commenting on other teams.

REACT POSITIVELY TO AN AGGRESSIVE ACTION BY AN INDIVIDUAL OR GROUP
Don't lower yourself to another opponents taunting or trash talking. Take the high road, let your actions on the court or playing field speak for yourself and your team.

PERSONAL APPEARANCE COUNTS
You are traveling representative of your team and your university, especially on the road. Remember your represent your institution on your own campus and on the road as well in all public establishments.

REMAIN POSITIVE IN ALL PUBLIC STATEMENTS
Everything you say is quotable. If you don't want your words to show up in tomorrow's paper, don't say them. Don't repeat negative statements. You are always "on" with the public it a reporter, fellow coach, opponenet, album.

SAY "THANKS"
Your final actions in any public communication, interview or speech may leave the strongest impression. Make every encounter a memorable one -- chances are you'll get more favorable responses in the future.
